The district also has a team of specialists that support in specific areas such as School Engagement / Truancy, Restorative Practices, Behavior Consultation, Homelessness and Mental Health Resources in the community. MENTAL NOTES - New Mental Health Education Curriculum for Secondary Students
Mental Notes is a newly developed curriculum that LPS is piloting for middle and high school students about the brain and mental health. The lessons were created by LPS staff and students in partnership with a digital media company after a multi-year process of feedback and focus groups. The lessons are aligned to state standards and presented in 15 minute modules on a digital platform that guides educators and students through the material and activities together as a class conversation.

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING
The Center for Academic and Social Emotional Learning outlines five key SEL competencies including Self-Management, Self-Awareness, Responsible Decision Making, Relationship Skills and Social Awareness. SEL programs in LPS align with the Colorado Comprehensive Health and Physical Education standards. These standards focus on personal decision-making around emotional and social well-being, positive communication, healthy eating, physical activity, tobacco, drug and alcohol abuse prevention and violence prevention. The standards underscore important skills for navigating today’s society with its complex and often confusing messages around health, beauty and happiness.
